I went out to JT on Friday after Thanksgiving. I'd reserved a spot at Indian Cove, so no problem getting a campsite. A couple of friends from Davis met me there that afternoon and we spent the rest of the day doing some climbing (geez, I'm out of shape)over on Morbid Mound, which is the formation 150 yards directly east of the Group Camp road. Weather was sunny and in the high 60s cooling to 40 at night.
On Saturday we hiked up to Oh-Bay-Yo-Yo. I saw more people (5) up there than ever before. They all went right by Oh-Bay-Yo-Yo though. Not sure if they even knew it was there. One guy was doing a loop from the south end of the Boy Scout Trail, through the Wonderland Connection to Indian Cove and back up the Boy Scout Trail from the north end to his starting point. We gave him a ride from Rattlesnake Canyon to the northern trailhead. It was 3:00 by that time. He said he had a couple of flashlights. Hope he made it okay. We went to lunch at the Carousel Cafe in 29 Palms then I left. My friends, Jake and Leslie (see picture) stayed and did some more climbing on Sunday before heading back to Davis. It was a good weekend. Jay, I'll have to do 49 Palms Valley another time. Mac, let me know the next time you go out there with your DSLR group. I could learn a lot from you guys.
