Hike to the top of both Queen Mt. Peaks, and let yourself be free finding a different way back down again. Hike sections of the Riding and Hiking Trail. Eagle Cliff Mine starting from Split Rock, and exploring and finding a different way back down is a good one.

Don't miss the Wonderland Wash into the Wonderland of Rocks. See if you can come out via the Wall Street Stamp Mill. Following the Boy Scout Trail with a side trip to Willow Hole is a great hike. Information on all of these are readily available at the Ranger Stations, or the Coyote Corners store in Joshua Tree. I also realy like the Twin Tanks area, starting from the Riding and Hiking Trail parking lot off of the road that leads to Cottenwood Campground.
