Advice on Where to Go / What to See

Hi,

Will be visiting Palm Springs the week of March 18.

I will have Thursday through Sunday free to visit the park. Have never been before.

I am wondering what to do and where to do it. I would like to do some overnight Backpacking, but it sounds like that could be problematic due to the water issue. I've done a lot of backpacking, but never in the desert.

It might be best for me to rent a car and a Mountain Bike. I could then camp overnight in the campgrounds and do day trips with the bike.

Advice appreciated on where to do this and any "Must See's".
